Caretaker for Weekend Work

Location: Hillstown Village Hall

Job vacancy:    Weekend Caretaker position (Saturday/Sunday)
 
We are looking to appoint a friendly, energetic, and reliable individual with a range of practical skills for the role of Caretaker to join our team and contribute to the smooth running of the village hall.

The successful applicant will have a range of duties across the site, mainly opening and closing for weekend hirers.

You should be self-motivated, dependable and trustworthy, and able to work under their own initiative

Responsibilities include looking after the security of the building and preparing the hall for bookings.

 

Working alongside the Village Hall Manager, the caretaker will need to be available to attend the hall at irregular hours to help with the overall running of the facilities.

The post is permanent and subject to a period of successful probation.

The hours worked will need flexibility and consistent with weekend hire times use of the hall or site and will be around 4 hours per weekend, subject to the number of hirers.

 

We are looking for a successful candidate to start as soon as possible. 

Rate of pay is £12 per hour.

 

BOOKINGS

This procedure is required for occasional hirers only, who are unfamiliar with the facilities and how they work.

  1. Check the cleanliness of booked facilities, including toilets, kitchens, tables, and chairs.

  2. Check the supply of consumable items – toilet rolls, soap, paper towels, etc.

  3. Unlock appropriate doors.

  4. Ensure all fire exits are clear

 
Meet occasional hirers at the time of their hire and inform them of the following:
  1. Operation of lighting including hall and electrics if required

  2. Explain kitchen and toilet facilities.

  3. Explain Hall heating arrangements.

  4. Location of fire extinguishers, fire action plans and emergency exit.

  5. Agree procedure for locking Hall at the end of the booking.

 
At the conclusion of occasional hirer booking:
  1. Inspect facilities to ascertain all is generally in an acceptable order – any damage to be brought to the attention of the hirer/village hall manager

  2. Ensure that all is tidy for the next booking, particularly after the late evening Saturday / Sunday bookings.

  3. Check the cleanliness of the fridge and that no food has been left, and that the kitchen is in a hygienic condition.

  4. Empty kitchen bins and washroom bins, if needed.

  5. Check heating.

  6. Check all water taps are turned off.

  7. Unplug water heaters and urns, turn of hall extractors if used.

  8. Close windows.

  9. Turn off all lights.

  10. Lock Hall.

 

Report any client feedback at check in/check out to the Village Hall manager immediately.
